CARE Team

Coordination. Assessment. Response. Education.

The CARE team is a campus-wide behavioral intervention team who meet regularly and are responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to concerns and/or disruptive behaviors by students and community members who struggle academically, emotionally, or psychologically, or who present a risk to the health or safety of the college or its members.

The goal of our CARE Team is to intervene and assist the student before it escalates into an urgent matter. For this reason, faculty or staff with concerns for a student are asked to report them as soon as possible. Please do not worry whether your concerns are warranted or appropriate; we will sort through the details once we receive a report, then meet to determine the best response. Office of Well-Being & Health Promotion

The Office of Well-Being & Health Promotion provides a continuum of education and support programs encompassing emotional, mental and physical health to assist our students as they pursue their dreams. The office strives to deliver programming from a socioecological perspective and in collaboration with campus and community partners with a unifying goal to advance equitable outcomes. This work is rooted in the research on the social determinates of health and aims to amplify protective factors and reduce risk factors associated with health outcomes.

Counseling Services

Faculty counselors provide a variety of student support services, including CARE team membership, crisis response, personal, career, and academic counseling, and student success workshops.

Personal counseling – assist with personal and interpersonal concerns, and crisis situations. Includes referral to community resources.
Career counseling – help in examining skills, abilities, and interests, determining the right career, and choosing an educational pathway.
Academic counseling – aid in improving study skills, setting realistic, satisfying educational objectives, overcoming test anxiety, and adapting to college.

Students who are exploring educational options and are undecided about their program of study are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a counselor.

Free workshops on various topics are offered each quarter. Counselors are also available to assist faculty and staff as consultants.
