OC Report It: Referring Students for Additional Support

As a faculty member, you play a crucial role in recognizing when a student might need extra support. Whether it’s an academic issue or a sign of deeper distress, your intervention can make a significant difference.

Please use OC Report It as a central hub to share any student (or employee) concerns that you may encounter at Olympic College.

Academic Concerns: Student Alert

On the OC Report It page, you can use the Student Alert - Academic Concerns report to communicate to Advising any academic concerns regarding attendance, assignments, grades, participation, or preparedness.

After you reached out to the student, if you still have concerns, locate the "Submit Alert" in ctcLink on your class roster. Additional training materials and instructional videos can be found within the Student Alert Canvas shell.

Welfare Concerns: CARE Team Referral

On the OC Report It page, you can submit a Student Welfare Concern referral to the CARE Team if you are concerned for the welfare of a student, including a range of observed behaviors from food insecurity to emotional distress to signs of threat to self or others.

CARE Team

The CARE Team is a campus-wide behavioral intervention team who meet regularly and are responsible for identifying, assessing, and responding to concerns and/or disruptive behaviors by students and community members who struggle academically, emotionally, or psychologically, or who present a risk to the health or safety of the college or its members.

The goal of our CARE Team is to intervene and assist the student before it escalates into an urgent matter. For this reason, faculty or staff with concerns for a student are asked to report them as soon as possible. Please do not worry whether your concerns are warranted or appropriate; we will sort through the details once we receive a report, then meet to determine the best response.
